This just came in from Brian Montei serving as one the team in Haiti

Our trip down was uneventful and once again I’m surprised at how much I’ve grown to like airports. Thanks for making this trip possible, your support is very┬ámuch appreciated! So my Dad and I have joined a team of ten other men, all using their professions to bless the people of Haiti.

So we got to Haiti Tuesday afternoon and got on a school bus to drive what was supposed to be a four-hour bus┬áride up in the mountains. It took longer due to crazy rain and well I’m just glad my wife had packed me meat sticks…it was a long ride!

I don’t care how long you’ve lived in a tropical climate when it’s hot humid and sticky it is just plain ole hot, humid and sticky, the kind where you take a shower and feel just as wet on the outside of the shower as you do in. I’m not complaining just stating the facts. It’s a good reminder to count your blessings and remember we didn’t choose where we were born.

Looking around Haiti, it’s definitely poor, I would say it’s like Papua New Guinea plus poverty. The kids ask for money and while we feel relatively safe I definitely have my guard back up and I’m aware of our surroundings. When you’re the only white guys for miles ya kind of stand out!

Why are we here, good question. We've come to help a ministry called Young Life. This is a mission to reach unchurched teens/young adults that have no family or have left their family. The facility we are powering is a training facility for those that have gone through Young Life and want to join the team to reach others in the same way. It's great to see a ministry that engages the people of the country to carry on the mission of sharing the life-changing message of Jesus.
